Municipalities and Regional Districts

Chatwin Engineering has excellent relationships with municipalities and regional districts. They trust us to bring visionary thinking to all aspects of municipal infrastructure. In the 1980s, Chatwin Engineering showed municipalities a glimpse of the future by providing computer models of water and sewer systems. Today, we continue to seek out unique solutions to water supply and sanitary sewer disposal issues, and to the array of municipal projects we take on. Whatever capacity we are brought in, be it an engineering project or an environmental consultation, we strive to keep our clients and their communities at the leading edge.

First Nations

We are proud to say that the majority of our First Nations clients have been with us for over 25 years. Our engineers, technologists and biologists have developed an appreciation and understanding of First Nations culture and we approach these projects with respect. Our relationships have developed such that we not only supply core services such as sewer and water infrastructure, but also urban planning, maintenance management, economic development studies, traditional use studies, comprehensive planning and treaty negotiation services.

School Districts, College and Universities

Our Building Science Division provides valuable services to school districts, colleges and universities.  By assisting with the design and review of quality building envelopes for new buildings, our clients enjoy safe, healthy buildings and avoid problems such as mould. And guided by BC’s Climate Action Plan, we help to reduce the carbon footprint of schools and universities using Chatwin’s own air leakage reduction programs. This unique service reduces energy consumption and ultimately reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

Provincial Ministries

Chatwin Engineering has a long history of serving Provincial ministries.  We are proud to say that we were the Civil Engineering consultants for the planning stage of the Vancouver Island Inland Island Highway project, from Parksville to Campbell River. And we succeeded in bringing a green shore approach to the preservation and protection of the foreshore for the Ministry of Parks.

Health Care Facilities

Health care buildings must be constructed to ensure a healthy environment for society’s most vulnerable people. The air barriers designed and constructed as part of the building envelope on these buildings must provide protection from unfiltered air that can bring in pollutants, pollen, or even insects. Chatwin’s team is meticulous in our design to ensure safe and healthy health care facilities for the people in our community.

Federal Ministries

Chatwin’s Civil Engineering Division and our Building Science Division provide a multitude of services to federal ministries.  We are especially proud of the work our marine biologists have done with Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Our relationship is strong and we share a joint commitment to preserve and enhance our ocean environment.
