The basis of the assessment was to determine environmental constraints and opportunities for development within the site and to advise on measures for mitigating potential impacts from housing, roads and underground infrastructure development.
Our biologists conducted a detailed environmental assessment of a 28 hectare residential development along the upper bluffs of the Linley Valley / Hammond Bay within the City of Nanaimo.
The Environmental Impact Assessment included mapping forest cover types, landmark tree species, wetlands and the utilization of sites by nesting birds, small mammals, and ungulate.
The project also included a night-time owl inventory, amphibian survey and tree management plan, as required under the City’s of Nanaimo’s Steep Slope By-law.
