In the 1980s, Chatwin Engineering showed municipalities a glimpse of the future by providing computer models of water and sewer systems. Today, we continue to seek out unique solutions to water supply and sanitary sewer disposal issues, and to the array of municipal projects we take on. Whatever capacity we are brought in, we strive to keep our clients and their communities at the leading edge.
First Nations
We are proud to say that the majority of our First Nations clients have been with us for over 25 years. Our engineers and technologists have developed an appreciation and understanding of First Nations culture and we approach these projects with respect. Our relationships have developed such that we not only supply core services such as sewer and water infrastructure, but also urban planning, maintenance management, economic development studies, traditional use studies, comprehensive planning and treaty negotiation services.
Provincial Ministries School Districts, College & Universities and Health Care Facilities
Chatwin Engineering has a long history of serving Provincial ministries. We are proud to say that we were the Civil Engineering consultants for the planning stage of the Vancouver Island Inland Island Highway project, from Parksville to Campbell River. And we succeeded in bringing a green shore approach to the preservation and protection of the foreshore for the Ministry of Parks.
Federal Ministries
Chatwin’s Civil Engineering Division provides a multitude of services to federal ministries. We are especially proud of the work with marine biologists and with Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Our relationship is strong and we share a joint commitment to preserve and enhance our ocean environment.

Our Urban Planning Group provides master planning of land development projects. Our planners, environmental specialists and civil engineers work together to develop projects that are cost effective and sustainable.
